Intensive Workshops

The one- to three-day workshops offered by the Medical Education Working Group are based on preparation using the workbooks presented here. Over the course of three days, they systematically teach the necessary practical examination and diagnostic skills in small groups, using live demonstrations and a high proportion of hands-on practice. They are held in cooperation with the Marburger Bund Foundation.

Intensive Workshop on Abdominal Ultrasound

All course participants receive the accompanying workbook as part of their registration, which includes specific tips for preparatory assignments. The course format then offers a varied mix of methods: The modules consist of brief, yet concise live demonstrations (approx. 15–20 minutes) with an emphasis on longer practical sound exercises (60–90 minutes each) in small groups of 4 to a maximum of 5 participants per workstation and instructor.
Participants are guided by instructors who have received specialized training in both teaching methods and subject matter, and who actively involve the course participants in the activities on a regular basis. Additional drawing exercises at the standard levels deepen and permanently reinforce the participants’ knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.

The best way to prepare for the course is to use the “Sono-GK” workbook, which is specifically tailored to our courses and published by Georg Thieme Verlag (11th edition, 2023, €41): https://shop.thieme.de/Sono-Grundkurs/9783132452053 Further details regarding dates, costs, registration, etc., can be found on the continuing education pages of the Marburger Bund and the Working Group on Medical Didactics: http://www.medidak.de/intensiv/sono/

FKDS Intensive Workshop

The three-day, interdisciplinary introductory course on color-coded duplex sonography according to KBV guidelines offers physicians in training and specialists an ideal introduction to the “world of colorful images.”

The entire curriculum is taught in short, easy-to-follow modules based on modern pedagogical principles. Concise yet informative live demonstrations of transducer positioning and sonographic images are followed by practical exercises (60–90 minutes each), conducted in small groups of 4 to a maximum of 5 participants per workstation and instructor. After a brief overview of common pathological findings, quiz cases and additional drawing exercises of typical flow profiles reinforce retention.

The best way to prepare for the course is to use a workbook specifically tailored to our courses: *
