The recently published book &#8220;Doc&#8217;s Coach&#8221; is designed to help clinical rotation students, students in their practical year, and resident physicians at the start of their training quickly learn the most common measurement, examination, and puncture techniques, including central venous catheter placement, lumbar puncture, intubation, and resuscitation. With more than 1,000 illustrations, the book clearly shows, step by step, the individual steps and rotations involved in operating a three-way stopcock or performing a hand movement. Common mistakes are also demonstrated and specifically highlighted to make it easier for beginners to apply the techniques. The book allows for both a \u201cquick review\u201d of a skill using only the image series and their captions, as well as in-depth training with the help of the accompanying text. Short quiz sections for self-assessment when interpreting blood pressure and central venous pressure (CVP) readings, bedside tests, or arterial blood gas analyses round out the concept.
